Promises, Promises

2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise...”

We live in a world where promises are broken continually. Some are purposely broken, while some promises never come to fruition because the one that has made the promise in unable to fulfill it. It is a reassuring fact that we can take God’s promises as absolute truth because He has the power to keep them and the desire to meet them. God is unable to fail in any of His promises to us. God’s promises are designed to meet each of our needs, they give us comfort each day.

D. L. Moody said, “At one time in Chicago when the meetings grew a little dull, I told them we would go through the Bible and look for all the promises given us; and from that time there were no more dull meetings. We had never realized before what promises God has made to those who believe in Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 1:20 “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” 2 Peter 1:4 “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature...”

Remember that God can deliver on each one of His promises. He can and will do what He says He will do. He has this ability and He has never promised anything that He didn’t do. He can and will do what He said He will do because He has the power that nobody else has, He is the Almighty Sovereign Ruler of the universe. The greatest promise given to all men that believe is found in 1 John 2:25 “And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.” Take some time to rejoice and thank God for His precious promises! Praise the Lord, isn’t it good to know that “he is faithful that promised.” Hebrews 10:23
